Mad World - 從青澀少年到老爸觀點 @ Oz Formosa 台客澳爸

上個周末的家庭旅遊，在旅館看 "the Voice, Blind Audition"，來自西澳伯斯的女孩 Rianna Corcoran選唱了 "Mad World" ，一首我青少年時期最愛樂團 Tears For Fears的經典名曲。照例，參賽歌手上台前都會有一段關於為何來參賽的故事，Rianna敘述自己如何克服焦慮症，追求夢想。其實她才 17歲，原本跟大多數小女孩一樣，快樂無憂，12歲那年，莫名地開始感到焦慮，封閉自己，父母說她並沒有受到霸凌，但就是沒來由地把自己跟外界隔離起來，曾經兩年足不出戶，後來，透過音樂，才慢慢地走了出來，甚至有機會步上舞台。

必須說，她的歌聲十分特別，讓人有點分不清楚到底是唱走音了，或者特殊的唱腔是她詮釋這首歌的方式。最終，歌聲雖沒有得到評審的青睞，仍然收下溫暖的鼓勵。但是，回想她前面述說的故事，又選了這首歌，很難不跟霸凌聯想在一起。

年少時期喜歡這首歌，也說不出原因，或許是在那個剛接觸西洋流行樂的年代，英文程度不好，無法充分理解歌詞含意，純粹就是喜歡上音樂的特色。隔了三十多年(沒錯，這首歌是1983年發行，我應該是85年買他們的專輯)，身為青少年的老爸，歌曲給我帶來的感受已經完全不同，如果孩子告訴我他喜歡這首歌，我會擔憂是不是在學校出了甚麼事，或者被人欺負沒說出來。

這首歌後來被翻唱多次，Gary Jules的版本是最紅的一個，MV非常有特色

最近的版本，Jasmine Thompson演唱，其實應該是翻唱 Gary Jules，而非 Tears For Fears

重點是，這個版本是電影 American Pastoral主題曲，看起來十分沉重

最後，附上歌詞。當年在校園，很慶幸沒有體驗到歌詞中的焦慮與不安，或者說，壓力的來源不一樣吧。如今，重讀歌詞，角色轉換成憂慮孩子的父母，要堅定，溫柔地支持孩子經歷這段旅程。
